Explore the exciting medium of watercolor! We will cover basic fundamentals – value, color mixing and various watercolor techniques such as wet-into-wet, wet-into-dry and dry brush through demonstrations and on your own painting of the bird of your choice from the River Center’s collection of mounts.
All skill levels are welcome.
Materials List:
- Pencils: HB, 2B
- Pencil Sharpener
- Erasers: Kneaded Eraser and Magic Rub eraser
- Watercolor paint set & palette
- watercolor brushes:
Rounds: #1 or #2, #6 Flats: 1/2” or 1”
OR Niji water brushes are very useful (and inexpensive!) - 2 water cups & paper towels
- Sketchbook OR watercolor block: sketchbook should be heavy weight paper, suitable
for watercolor washes. Some good sketchbooks & watercolor blocks are:
Canson XL Mix Media, Birn-Stillman Beta Series or Zeta series,
Strathmore watercolor pads, Arches Watercolor blocks - Optionals: watercolor pencils or any other watercolor painting materials you prefer
