Join us to explore the amazing adaptations of bird families, their ecological superpowers, and tips for spotting them in the wild.
About the presenter: Fawn is an ecologist, naturalist, and devoted bird enthusiast with expertise in Pacific Northwest avian species. As the Wildlife Refuge Manager for the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s Dungeness and Protection Island National Wildlife Refuges, she combines her passion for birds with a hands-on approach, conducting field surveys, habitat assessments and leading innovative conservation efforts. Her experience ranges from working with delicate hummingbirds to majestic golden eagles, participating in banding studies, attaching radio transmitters to avian species, and treating wildlife injuries and illnesses. A skilled avian trainer, she has worked extensively with non-releasable corvids and raptors, preparing them for impactful educational programs. Before her current role, she contributed as an ecologist for a local land trust and inspired students as an undergraduate ecology professor. She is excited to share her knowledge of bird adaptations and ecology.
