Saturday, April 18, 2026, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Location: Keith’s Studio
Price: $110.00
Instructor: Keith Ross
Limit: 12
As a supporter of The Dungeness River Nature Center, I am excited to again present a full day workshop, for a group of photographers of any skill levels, to include:
- A PowerPoint presentation covering camera settings, mastering the exposure triangle, and lots of images as examples.
- Plenty of Q&A time in the classroom, discussing best practices, camera settings.
- Wildlife Photographer Ethics discussion.
- A trip to one or more of our local wildlife hotspots, TBD, but nearby and easily accessible. (Three Crabs Beach likely.)
- Out in the field over-the-shoulder assistance.
- End of day editing demonstration using Lightroom, Photoshop, Topaz Photo AI and GigaPixel & DXO PhotoLab.
Guidance on exporting images for social media vs. printing, color space selection, resolution.
I have been teaching one-on-one wildlife photography classes at our studio on an ongoing basis, and also one-on-one editing instruction. This will be an extension of this content and concepts, but working with a larger group. In order to make the best use of our time together, PLEASE COME PREPARED with the basic knowledge of how to access the following functions on your specific camera model, to avoid me spending too much time learning all of your individual menus. You do not need to know what to do, just know how to find and adjust them is all. I will teach you the rest, and we will have fun learning!
Dust off the owner’s manual for your camera, or download one. Read about how to adjust:
- Shutter Speed
- Aperture (aka F Stop., ie f/5.6. f/6.3….)
- ISO
- Focus Point Selector
- Shutter Mode Selector (Single vs. High Speed Continuous)
Metering Mode Selector (ie. Evaluative, Center-weighted, Spot…)
***Extra Credit if you can look for “Back Button Focus” in your manual. Usually in “Custom Buttons” or similar name.
What to bring:
- Your longest lens, and one mid range lens that is smaller and lighter, if your arm wears out. 😊
- A tripod or monopod, if you have one. (Don’t forget the mounting plate to attach it.)
- Spare batteries.
- Empty camera card
